Location & Facilities

P.R. Running campers will stay in air-conditioned college dormitories at Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, NC.
- Camp utilizes the brand new Shining Rock and Black Rock Dormitories built in 2022, featuring double occupancy rooms, a shared courtyard, communal lounges, and walking access to the Courtyard Dining Hall
Meals will be provided by WCU, either at the campus cafeteria or by catering and boxed lunches while eating away from campus
- Campus Meals will be taken at Catamount Cafe directly next to camper dormitories. The dining hall has a variety of options catering to the needs of our campers with high-quality ingredients and a registered dietitian on staff.
All bed linens will be provided
You can request a roommate before July 1st by contacting Jason@prrunningcamp.com. Otherwise, roommates are assigned at camp discretion.
Washers and dryers are available in the dormitories
State of the art campus buildings will be used for activities and general recreation
Campers will get the chance to use the athletic facilities at Western North Carolina as well as run on world class trail systems throughout this region of the Southern Appalachian Mountains

Mission

Our mission at PR Running Camp is to provide an equally fun and educational environment for all campers. We will provide a healthy dose of training insight for runners of all levels, but we aim to keep each runner's training aligned with their individualized school schedules & coaching. We will have college coaches speak and participate at camp, collegiate runners will provide camp counseling, and we will host several educational breakout sessions. Our camp caters to a full range of athletes, from those just beginning their running careers to those competing for state championships. No matter your camper's running ability, they'll have the chance to socialize with fellow runners and forge lasting relationships.

Activities

PR Running Camp is located in one of the most beautiful regions in the country: the Southern Appalachian Mountains.

Camp Activities Include:

Campers will have the opportunity to train on a variety of trails in world-class destinations such as Great Smoky Mountain National Park and Pisgah and Nantahala National Forests.
Campers will attend educational talks from a variety of experts in their fields regarding training, nutrition, psychology and more.
Camp Counseling from top-level collegiate coaches and athletes
A variety of fun non-running activities:
- River tubing
- Field day
- Color wars
- Talent show
- Visiting Highlands Outpost
An end-of-camp Cross Country Race.

Arrival/Departure

Check-In: From 11:00AM-1:00PM
Pick Up/Check Out: By 12 PM on the final day of camp. Your room must be clear of trash, and keys turned in by Noon.
Airport Transportation: The closest airport is the Asheville, NC Airport (AVL). We can arrange for shuttle transportation for your camper through a local company who charges $45 each way. Uber/Lyft is also an option from the airport.
Two Week Campers: For campers staying both weeks, you may stay in the dorms between sessions with campus meals included at no additional fee.
Arriving Early: It is possible to come a day early. An additional $100 fee includes dinner the night of, breakfast the morning after, and early access to your room.
Key/Key Card Deposit: WCU provides a dormitory room key, as well as a key card for meals and building access for every camper. It is the camper's responsibility to keep both for the duration of camp. Upon arrival, a $50 check payable to Western Carolina University with your camper's name in the description must be provided. Your deposit will be returned when the keys are returned to WCU.
Balance Due: $150 deposit is required to reserve a camp spot. You can pay in full at the time of registration, or pay the deposit and set up auto billing for monthly installments.

Educational Speakers

At PR Running Camp, campers will have the opportunity to attend several educational talks from experts in fields such as sports psychology, dietetics and collegiate coaching. These sessions will help campers and coaches to build tools for successful and healthy performance in the sport of running, as well as daily life.
